Banana Express – July 14, 2010

Banana Express

Hello Everyone,

Today is a rainy day at mile marker 24 in the Florida Keys.  It’s one of those days where there is a steady peppering of water coming from the sky but not a huge downpour.  I am sitting on my porch and have to say the sound of the falling rain onto the palm fronds is comforting. Somehow the sound and smell remind me of being a kid.

Key West Time TV Show 8:00 PM Thursday, July 15th

As overcast as it is today, it’s a stark contrast of our weather yesterday.  Beautiful blue skies, flat calm waters and a beautiful day to be out on the boat and that is exactly what we did.  The day started with a film crew at the house shooting for our latest Key West Time TV show.  We then jumped on the boat and headed out to one of my favorite places ever, Looe Key Reef.  We finished filming on the water and broke out the Red Stripe.  As I sat there and looked around, I had to do the wow thing.  I can’t believe all this is happening. The show airs tomorrow, Thursday July 15th at 8:00 PM. Please tune into to watch.  Also, be sure to tell all your friends about it. Thanks for your support!!

I also have to talk a little about last night. Our grandson Michael spent the night with us and we had an eventful evening.  While swimming in the pool we were joined by our four resident doves.  Mom, dad and the two little ones born on our windowsill all just hung around and watched the sunset with us.  The yard then became alive with little creatures.  Land crabs and geckos started coming from everywhere.  Then we tied one of my dive lights to a line and dropped it off the dock with some chicken attached.  This is when the underwater show started.  All kinds of fish, lobsters and crabs decided to dine under the makeshift moonlight.  As was lay face down looking of the end of the dock, I glanced up and looked at the night sky. A sliver of a moon, stars so bright you think you can touch them and all reflected on the still waters of the bay.  The wow thing again.  I think this is shaping up to be perhaps my favorite summer ever.

Friday, July 16th Mel Fisher Days Duval Block Party

This party is to celebrate the 25th anniversary of finding the Atocha shipwreck treasure.

One of my fantasies has always been to be a treasure hunter and now I get to hang out with them. We all get to do this on Friday because they are blocking off Duval Street and we are putting on a concert and having a party!!  It’s free, open to the public and starts at 6:00 PM.  So if you are in the Keys you need to get down to this.  For more information visit
