Parrot Island Band

The Parrot Island Band is a Georgia based Jimmy Buffett tribute band and was nominated for the Trop Rock Music Award Duo/Trio of the year for 2009 and 2010 (Margarita M.A.F.I.A). The band is a "Trop-Rock" trio and available for parties, cookouts, wedding, fundraisers, corporate events (you name it!)... if you are looking for really good Jimmy Buffett music at an affordable price, look no further! As they like to say, they ARE  "Jimmy Buffett on a budget". For smaller events and venues, Bry and Linda Harris (the Parrot Island Band-duo) may be just what you are looking for. They love Buffett/Trop-Rock music and also play a growing number of original songs that are currently being played on several radio stations.

The Parrot Island Band consists of Kevin Garrelts (congas), Linda Harris (steel drum), Bry Harris (guitar/vocals) and can add bass player if needed for bigger events. The band has been together for four years and has had the opportunity to play all around Atlanta and throughout the southeast region. While the Parrot Island Band  plays over 50 Jimmy Buffett songs, Bry has also written over 20 original "tropical songs" that have been very well received. The Parrot Island Band has one CD (Parrot Island Band) to its credit and you will hear several new songs played at their live performances.

Band leader, Bry Harris, has been a huge Jimmy Buffett fan since the mid-70's. He was named "most likely to open for Jimmy Buffett" by his high school graduating class. Although he took a long break from the music business, Bry is making up for lost time and enjoys meeting new friends at the numerous gigs that the band plays for.

Linda Harris is the beauty of the band and plays the steel pan. While many people only get to hear the steel pan on cruises or the Carribean, Linda brings the Island sound to the Parrot Island Band.

Kevin Garrelts adds the sound of congas to the band, rounding out the tropical feel to the music we play. Originally from Kearney, Nebraska - "Key West" Kev currently resides in Acworth, GA. While Kevin is currently playing percussion/conga with the band, he is also a rhythm guitar player (and a darn good one!)

I’m NOT Growing Up (Even When I’m Gone)

I was saddened to hear today of the death of one of the Atlanta Parrothead Club’s most loved members, Monte Tolar. From all of the posts and pictures on Facebook, it was obvious that he loved his family, friends , and his country (he served in the Navy).  It was also obvious by his friend’s posts ad pictures that he loved life and made the world … Read more

Tropstock Cocoa Beach, Fla.

There is a great event taking place in Cocoa Beach, Florida the first week of Oct. (1-3)… the very first Tropstock (www.tropstock.com). The Parrot Island Band is currently scheduled to open the event on Friday at 1pm. While not playing near the “headliners”, it is pretty cool to be first up at the very first Tropstock. As years go by I can say that I opened … Read more

Outdoor gigs

The Parrot Island Band loves to play “anywhere/anytime” but we seem to play outdoor gigs more than any other. This past Saturday  we played at the local country club pool for “Carribean Day”.  It was very hot but we were having a great day… until… the storm. It was one of those mid-afternoon storms that come out of nowhere here in Georgia. We were just able … Read more

What a Great Idea

I am trying to figure out the layout of the Conch Republic Radio artist site. First of all, I would like to say thanks to Conch Republic Radio for doing such a great job in promoting Trop Rack artists. While we (the Parrot Island Band) are pretty small fish in the Trop Rock world, it is great to have another place to have our music heard … Read more
