If you've visited the resorts, theme parks and resturants of Central Florida then you have probably seen or heard about the Conch Man, aka Patrick Frost. His Steel Drums and Conch Shell playing have entertained vacationers and locals for many years.
But, the resume of this accomplished musican and entertainer is so diverse that one may wonder just what is his specialty. The answer is...Everything!
Yes, it's true that he is a fine Steel Pan player who spent years of his youth living on the island of Bermuda and absorbing it's tropical culture and music. It's the same Steel Drummer who sings like Jimmy Buffett and plays jazz solos on the Conch Shells.
Or you may have seen him in his role as Music Director and Keyboard/Trombone/Vocalist in The Island Breeze Band at Disney's Pleasure Island.
You may be a fan of his 1997 CD release, "Everything's Normal Here". A work he refers to as his Producers record because of it's stylistic diversity and artist bravery. A CD that still garners itunes downloads and CD sales around the world.
Perhaps you have been exposed to his music through the numerous scores he has written and produced for such clients as Disney, Pitney-Bowes, The US Air Force Bands or the NFL. More recently, Patrick can be seen performing either as a solo act or with his friends in Florida's Coco Loco Band, Reunion Band and the Prisim Jazz group.
in 2009, Patrick released his 2nd CD, "Freshwater Calypso". An album of tropically infused original songs featuring vocals from Trinidad native, Lyma Dunbar, Hall & Oates reedman, Charlie DeChant, Guitarists - Tommy Calton and Rick Voigt, and the rhythm section of Coco Loco.
Recently, Patrick has produced 2 CDs featuring the Conch Shells for Tropical Music International. The Conch Man, Vol. 1 -Coming Out of His Shell and The Conch Man, Vol. 2 -Making Waves are available from the Tropical Music International as well as CD Baby, Amazon.com and I tunes.
